This lesson introduces IELTS Diagram Writing (Task 1). Today, we will focus on IELTS Map Diagrams (this includes Transformations as well). Essentially, you should know how to describe:

  1. Features (hospital)

  2. Locations (towards the north and opposite the bank)

  3. Attribute (new)

Essential Points

Keywords:

  • Location: north, south, east, west, central, north-east, north-west, etc.

  • Direction: northerly, southerly, easterly, westerly, etc.

  • Distance: kilometre, metre, mile, etc.

  • Land features: mountain, hill, valley, river, lake, forest, etc.

  • Man-made features: building, road, bridge, park, etc.

  2. Summary:

    • Overall, the map highlights the evolution of...

  3. Body Paragraphs:

    • Location and Direction:

    • Land Features:

      • The map reveals the existence of...

      • The area is characterized by...

    • Changes Over Time:

      • Over the years, there has been a significant change in...

  • Phrases:
