Lesson summary:

Episode: 5

In IELTS Writing Task 1, you might encounter a prompt that involves analyzing and describing multiple diagrams or a combination diagram. These can be a bit more complex than single-diagram tasks, but with the right approach, you can tackle them effectively.

Here's a breakdown of what to expect with multiple diagrams and combination diagrams:

Multiple Diagrams:

  • Number of Diagrams: You'll typically be presented with 2 or 3 separate diagrams, each showcasing a different aspect of a topic.

  • Diagram Types: The diagrams could be of various formats like bar charts, pie charts, flowcharts, or even labeled illustrations.

  • Focus: Each diagram might highlight a specific stage, process, or data point related to a central theme.

Task Requirements (Both Types):

  • Identify Key Features: Always use comparative sentences, comparative adjectives, and superlative adjectives.

  • Summarize Each Diagram: Briefly describe the main points of each individual diagram.

  • Compare and Contrast (if applicable): If the diagrams contrasting data, highlight one similarity between the diagrams (this could be just one sentence, which is fine).
